Are Patagonia jackets made in China? Where does The North Face produce its products? How does Transa check production conditions? You can find answers about the sustainability of the textile industry and the production conditions for clothing here.
The clothing industry is just like plenty of other industries: many of the products are ‘Made in China’, i.e. manufactured in China. If they’re not made in China, then they’re often produced in Vietnam, Bangladesh or in the case of outdoor clothing, in Indonesia. The largest factories in the industry are located in Asia.
This can be evident in the range at Transa: about 85% of clothing is produced in Asia, of which about 23% (depending on the season) in China. Why is this the norm for the clothing industry? What does this mean for the products? And is sustainable production in Asia possible? You can find answers to these and other questions about ‘Made in China’ here.
Frequently wearing and using outdoor clothing and equipment is the most sustainable option, which is why it’s worth repairing and renting products or buying or selling them second-hand.
Do you need a sleeping bag, a sleeping mat and a tent? You can rent it all at Transa. Climbing equipment, bags for bikepacking and much more are also included in the rental range.
Does your jacket have a burn mark, or is a seam in your waterproof jacket is no longer waterproof? Does your down sleeping bag need to be washed after a long trip? The professionals in our repair workshop will be happy to take care of it.
Jumper doesn’t fit anymore? Need a waterproof jacket? Take a look at the Transa Secondhand platform. You’ll find used outdoor clothing and equipment, or you can sell items you no longer need.
